it's possible that the boy and i may have spent the last weekend in portland, looking at about a million places to live, and it's also possible that we may have found one we really like and signed a contract. but i am superstitious as all get-out when it comes to these things, so let me say only that if anyone feels like crossing fingers for us for a little while that things like inspections and whatnot go well, i'll be eternally grateful and also share the fun details when everything feels a little more ... certain.
until then, i've got a question for you kids.
one really great thing about packing up and moving 3,000 miles away is the list-making bonanza it provides for freaks like me. i love making to-do lists. LOVE THEM. so i'm plugging away on my grocery list, my house buying list, my future furniture list, my stuff to take in the car list, my stuff to sell on craigslist list, my list of lists i need to remember to list. which brings me to the list of stuff i absolutely have to do before i leave nyc. i've been in new york over ten years, so i've done most of the touristy stuff -- at least, most of the touristy stuff i have any interest in doing. but i know that i'm forgetting things .... what am i missing? what would you need to do before you could leave?
so far, i've got*:
- Visit the Guggenheim
- Visit the Tenement Museum
- Hit the 6 Points Craft Ales brewery tour
- Brunch (and a chicago matchbox bloody mary) at Prune
- Lower east side bialy and smoked fish brunch
- Eat myself silly at the Momofuku ssam bar
- Visit Habu and Seaport Yarns (never been to either!) also, School Products
- Get a pizza at Grimaldi's (under the brooklyn bridge)
*some of these (generally the food related stuff) i've done before but need to do again.
